Canvas Wall Art for Bedrooms: A Deeper Dive
Share
The bedroom occupies a unique position in the home. It is at once the most private and the most personal space — the room you see first in the morning and last at night.
The Bedroom Wall Above the Bed
This is the single most viewed surface in your bedroom. What hangs here should be something you genuinely love. Avoid compromise: if a piece is 'fine' or 'will do for now,' it will bother you every morning.
Size Matters More Here Than Anywhere
A canvas that is too small above a bed looks tentative and lost. A canvas that is too large becomes oppressive. For a queen bed (150 cm wide), aim for a canvas width of 100 to 120 cm. For a king (180 cm), 130 to 150 cm works well.
Colour and Sleep Quality
• Blue tones reduce heart rate and promote calm
• Soft greens are grounding and restful
• Warm neutrals (cream, taupe, sand) are gently comforting
• Avoid highly saturated reds, oranges, or high-contrast compositions directly above the sleeping area
Original Art in the Bedroom
A bedroom is the right place for an original artwork. Unlike a living room where guests will see and comment on everything, the bedroom is where you live with an artwork privately. A Skye original above your bed — with its Certificate of Authenticity and the knowledge that no other piece like it exists — creates a daily, intimate connection with something genuinely unique.
Frame Recommendations
• Natural wood: warm, organic, suits timber furniture and warm-toned bedding
• White: fresh and clean, suits Scandinavian or coastal bedroom aesthetics
• Gold: luxurious, suits rich-coloured bedding and traditional headboards
• Black: contemporary and graphic, suits modern or monochromatic bedrooms
Investing in the right artwork transforms your bedroom from a simple place to sleep into a considered, luxurious sanctuary.
