Framing Options for Canvas Wall Art: What to Know Before You Buy
Share
Choosing a frame is not an afterthought — it's an integral part of how a canvas artwork presents itself in your space. Here's what you need to know.
Standard Frames
A traditional frame surrounds the canvas with a border of wood or metal. Standard frames are versatile, add a sense of completeness to the artwork, and work in both classic and contemporary interiors. At Home and Decor PH, our standard frames are handcrafted and available in black, white, natural, gold, and silver finishes.
Floating Frames
A floating frame creates a visible gap between the canvas edge and the frame, giving the artwork a sense of depth and dimension — as though it's suspended within the frame. This is a popular choice for hand-painted artworks and abstract pieces, where you want the texture and painted edges to remain visible.
Gallery Wrap (Frameless)
In a gallery wrap, the canvas image extends around the sides of the stretcher frame, with no additional frame needed. This is the most minimal and contemporary option. It works well in modern and industrial interiors where clean lines are the priority.
Which Should You Choose?
• For traditional or transitional interiors: Standard frame in natural wood or gold
• For contemporary or minimalist interiors: Floating frame in black or white, or gallery wrap
• For hand-painted artworks with visible texture: Floating frame — it lets the edges breathe
• For Skye's original artworks: All pieces come in a floating frame as standard
A Note on Custom Frames
At Home and Decor PH, every frame is custom-built to the specific size of your canvas by our framing artisans. This means you are not getting a mass-produced frame pulled from a shelf — it is made specifically for your piece, in the colour you choose.
